So maybe this week, Kd is rubbing off on me. The reds we had this week were just kicking it with our meals I guess. We decanted the wine and let it breath for about 30 minutes, though it was a 2004 it had only been in the bottle one year (bottle may of 2007). You know the drill, view for color, swirl, smell and taste. The aroma was great I don't know, maybe the aroma was a minuscule mixed with what was coming from the kitchen. It had an aroma that almost jumped out of the glass.
Like most Zinfandels that have that robust, spice to them this had all the classical Zinfandel aromas with a minuscule more sweetness on the nose in a good way. no ifs ands or buts I was pretty happy before I even tasted it. I poured a sample for Kd who also liked the smell. Here comes the taste it was not super full bodied, but still pretty good. It was lively, a minuscule jammy with very berry zing....... The vines that this Zinfandel came from were at a minimum 55 years old and from the Lodi area. I am adding a link so you can check out there site and some other wines they offer.
Glass Drills
Kd made Sliders to go with our Zin of the night. Wow, is all I can say. Wow, It just wasn't the sliders it was all the minuscule things she added, garlic and red onions, feta cheese lightly melted on top of the sliders, grape tomato's, Peppercini peppers and spinach leaves. Somehow this medley was just amazing. Melt in your mouth amazing! If I was not watching my form I would have headed for the refrigerator for the rest of the sliders she had made....It was a struggle but Kd blocked the door pretty good.
Why wait to till the end to tell you this was good in fact, it paired with Kd's sliders fantastic. It was one of the best pairings we have had this year.....it no ifs ands or buts was that good together. As a side note we have had wines that no ifs ands or buts range in price, so at only dollars a bottle I will be picking this up now, I would say drink this Now...Today even!
Yes we all have our vices, we don't have or make time for very many television shows, but American idol is one of those. So tonight no ifs ands or buts is turning out to be a great night. Who knows what else is in store........
